Lisa Foeste

Lisa (Jorgensen) Foeste traded in her newspaper reporter’s notebook and tape recorder for diapers and baby drool in order to tackle life’s best job, being a mom. However, she still loves to use her journalism instincts. This time she’s out to reveal exclusive finds and the best products for your babies, enlighten you with educational games, information and tips about baby care, and inform you about great family events that are happening around the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, and recently Calgary.

Lisa’s articles and photography have been published in numerous newspapers around the Lower Mainland along with several inflight and lifestyle magazines. Before being a mom, she was a news reporter at the North Shore News. Her toughtest news assignment to date was covering the fire that gutted the News' former office building while she was seven months pregnant. Her next tough assignment is the pending arrival of baby number 2 in March 2007.

Meralon Shandler

Meralon Shandler is the owner of Mamaspeak, programs offering support and education to new moms in the postpartum weeks and months.

Meralon is originally from New Zealand, and came to Vancouver in 1998. Shortly thereafter, she met and married her husband, Randal, and they now have a 20-month-old son, Connell. She has a Masters in Psychology, specialising in Child Development, and is also trained as a Birth Doula (Certified Doula with DONA, 2003). Prior to having a baby, she worked as a counselor in a drug and alcohol treatment centre for teenage girls. Meralon's love of inspiring women in the area of childbirth came when she became involved in "doula-dom," and has increased as she has grown into motherhood. Meralon found the transition difficult, as she discovered few postpartum resources for new, first-time moms. She felt that with her background in counselling, and knowledge of birth and mothering, she could help other moms feel more comfortable as they make their way through the challenging (and joyous) weeks and months of their newborn's life.

  Hooray for Babyvibe!
